Hello Pioneers! This is Mr. Boyles with your weekly Pioneer Update.
Thank you to everyone for a wonderful first week of school. Students have spent a lot of time this past week reviewing expectations in order to have a smooth, great year.
A few reminders on a couple of procedures:
Morning Car Rider Line: Please make sure to pull all the way up to the end of the sidewalk or the car in front of you in order to drop off as many students as possible.
Afternoon Car Rider Line: Please pull to spots 1-6 pulling all the way as far as possible and your student will meet you there. The numbers that are called with your student are more for your student's reference than for the cars.
The morning and afternoon car line have gone rather well and will get quicker as students and parents learn our procedures.
We do ask that you wait a full two weeks before visiting to eat lunch with your students as to allow students to become acclimated to all procedures. The first day for lunch visitors would be August 27th.
You should have received a message from our County Office indicating a need for you to fill out a questionnaire in order for us to have the most accurate information about your child’s education. The brief 2025–2026 questionnaire is available on the Poplar Springs website (right side of the homepage or under the “Forms” tab). It takes about 5–10 minutes and provides us with prompt feedback to better serve your child. You will need your child’s unique student ID number to complete the questionnaire which your child’s teacher should provide for you. Please note that the form is specific to each school, so be sure to visit the Poplar Springs website or select the correct school in the mobile app.
Along with the online questionnaire, please remember to please pay your technology fee of $27 through SchoolCash online.
Remember that the instructional day begins at 7:40 AM. Students arriving after this time are missing valuable instructional time and will be counted tardy.
PTO night at the Winston-Salem Dash will be this Friday. Please view the flyer that came home with students.
A little look ahead:
There will be no school for students on September 1st for the Labor Day Holiday.
Thank you for your support of Poplar Springs Elementary. Have a blessed week!
